Having made brushes for the countries top artists for over a quarter of a century – here’s what some of them say !
- Thank you to you all for your very kind words.
I always feel happy to be laying in a line drawing using my large kolinsky sable mop – it will leave the most delicate of lines or instantly level into the most sensitive of wash brushes – it should have ‘Stradivarius’ written on it !

For surety of touch, the Rosemary & Co range of both Oil and Watercolour brushes is unsurpassed. In arduous conditions of continued day to day use, they remain true to form & shape and handle magnificently.
David Curtis ROI RSMA www.djcurtis.co.uk
I use your kolinsky sables because they retain their ability to produce a fine line longer than those I have used from other sources. I do recommend your brushes to other artists.

A quality sable hair brush has the capability to produce a beautiful precise blade of grass with just one sweeping stroke or the smallest precise hair on a stem, Rosemary’s brushes can do all that and more.

Every single painting I have sold in watercolour & acrylic has been painted with a brush from Rosemary & Co. I can recommend the series 33 size 10 for watercolour, amazing good value suitable for loose or tight work and the shiraz short flats are excellent for acrylic.

Fifteen years ago I discovered Rosemary’s ‘Superb sables’ the best value available. I recommend them to all my painter friends. My favourite brush is a size 24 Pointed Round Red Sable.

After 35 years of painting professionally I have found,in the Ivory range, a brush that at last does exactly what you want it to do first time, maintains body, and keeps that cutting edge time after time after time ! A joy to work with.
Peter Wileman (Northants ) President – The Royal Inst of Oil Painters – London FRSA
As a brushoholic, I use a whole range of ‘Shiraz’ and ‘Ivory’, short & long flat, filbert & round from size 2-14 and personally give them 10 out of 10 for durability, comfort and performance. I have also been using 2 sables for the past four years with acrylic inks and they are as good as new despite being used frequently ( still go to a fine point). My most favourite brush is the 1” wash brush both long and short handle and most of my students have got one. It is great to see the sheer joy on my student’s faces after they start using your brushes and experiencing the ease with which they can manipulate colour on their paper or canvas.

I’ve been singing your praises to my students for many years; when they order they are still surprised that I am right ! You can buy superb quality, British made, reasonably priced brushes which always arrive really quickly.I have used Rosemary’s ‘Pure Kolinsky Sable’ series 33 (short handled) brushes for my botanical illustrations and flower paintings for over 20 years. They have the best points, spring & water holding capacity of any brushes I have tried and they last for years. I wouldn’t trust any other brand. I also have a ‘Pocket Pure Kolinsky Sable’ size 8 which goes everywhere with me & I guard it with my life.

No artist can expect success without consistent reliability on the fine quality of their tools. In ten years as a fulltime miniaturist I have used no other brushes than Rosemary’s. They are the finest I have found in my lifetime as a painter. Her service is prompt, fair and courteous. Thank you Rosemary (and Co)

I have been dealing with you for many years. ‘Experience and courtesy with prompt service and next day delivery’. I use mainly ‘Ivory’ for ground work and mongoose for finishing stages. I recommend you to a number of students who too are delighted with the quality and service.

I have no hesitation whatever in recommending Rosemary & Co Artists brushes to students and colleagues. I have watched Rosemary make brushes and I’ve heard how she monitors and oversees every stage or their development from the selection of raw materials to advise on the care and usage of the finished product. I am convinced that Rosemary’s brushes are some of the finest brushes available today. Rosemary sells directly to the public, she knows her clients and responds to their needs. Here is a good honest product and value for money.

I am very fond of saying to my students ‘ If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you have always got’ So why not try to change and move forward. You can start by buying some wonderful brushes from Rosemary. They will change your life.

I feared the art of making really fine brushes had died with a Mr Hill ; who used to make brushes for Leichertier-Barbe in Jermyn Street, London before the war, then I heard about Rosemary and her brush company. If anything her brushes are better than dear old Mr Hill – they are superb. The Kolinsky Sable Filberts (series 11) come to a needle sharp point which retains its spring for two or three continuous months painting. No brush can keep its point for longer for the hairs simply get tired but they can continue to be used for broader work for years if they are properly cared for. All her brushes are of the finest quality and her prices are very very competitive.

‘Let the brush do the work’ is one of my favourite sayings- that means the brush must also be fit for its purpose – Rosemary’s Pure Sable Brushes are made with love and love to work.

As I say to my students ‘Happiness is a new brush’
19 Years ago I just couldn’t believe how lucky I was to discover your brushes-the best one could get and yet at an amazingly affordable price. I run a miniature painting group and watercolour & mixed media classes for Adult Leisure Education as well as being a professional artist. My miniature love all the small series 92,99,401 but especially the spotters series 93 – when after years of using it, the point wears off, it turns into a miniature mop brush for backgrounds. The watercolour group each possess a series 305 cat’s tongue – these are so perfect for petals and foliage and, turned on it’s side , for stems or stripes on tigers. They all have several triangular series 318 brushes – we all love these- one can draw with the pointed end, then turn it on its side for the broader brush strokes, thus using one brush for the whole painting instead of stopping to find a larger one.We particually like the botanical series 344, which is perfect for drawing with and fine details in every subject. The rigger is perfect for free painting of grass and reeds. The Kolinsky Sable is superb- one is so grateful to be able to get such a treasure at prices we can afford. One never has to wonder what to buy as presents for artist friends and family – of course they will be delighted with some carefully chosen brushes ( and will think a lot of money has been spent on them). Rosemary – Thank you for always sending the brushes so quickly and never making mistakes. What would I do without your brushes which are a constant companion to me.
