Tina Figarelli Set

Tina Figarelli is a realistic figurative artist working full-time in her home studio near Chicago, IL, with her husband and their cat, Zelda.

Tina creates paintings that tell stories — and given the fact that she dreamed of becoming an author as a child by writing complex stories of her own, she finds this expanse into painting the perfect fit for her. With a focus on figurative art and still life, Tina weaves together storytelling and sentimental elements in her works.

Series 3077. HOG DOMED ROUND - These are great to scrub in an initial layer of paint, especially when working alla prima. They can take a good amount of pressure without splaying and leave beautiful marks  

Series 108. GOAT HAIR DOMED WHITE - A brush like this is great for oiling out, a process where you gently scrub in a layer of oil to bring back to true color and value of a previously dried paint layer. I always use this brush for that, and then go in with another layer of paint or mimic working wet into wet.

Classic. Long Flat - This brush is great for the initial block in drawing. The long handle allows for easy measuring, and the flat shape makes for great initial drawing marks. I also then use the series 108 as an “eraser” with a bit of oil and some scrubbing to erase lines.  

Eclipse Long Flat - One of the best brushes for softening marks and for turning form. 

Michael Klein. Synthetic Rounds - My absolute favourite brushes! I use these pretty much exclusively for my studio paintings. They hold their shape very well, but the older, more splayed brushes are still great for larger, less precise areas. They are synthetic, so they blend paint very well, but have enough spring to leave marks if wanted.
