Dojo Academy Set

In Japanese, "dojo" means "place of the way." It is a place of discipline and commitment, where people come together to learn and to practice, over time coming to embody the subject matter and to achieve true mastery. Atelier Dojo is a place for a community of artists to work toward mastery of their craft.

Dojo Academy offers classical training with a contemporary perspective — rigorous training in drawing and painting from observation with an emphasis on the figure and portrait as we work from a live model. At Atelier Dojo, we believe that all forms of realism are fundamentally based in the drawing of abstract shapes and patterns. Thus, we embrace the wide spectrum of realist art. We provide the student with training in traditional techniques, working from direct observation so that with time and practice, they will ultimately find their own voice.   

At our Academy, our master instructors offer professional training in drawing and painting based on 19th-century French academic methods. Our goal is to drill technique expertise, develop students' artistic individuality and prepare them for a variety of creative fields including fine art, illustration, design, animation, and education.

Each of our instructors has been using various Rosemary brushes in their own work for years.  We love how much care goes into both brush manufacturing and the quality of service your family-owned business provides to its customers.  We were thrilled at the opportunity to put together a solid brush set for our Academy students, feeling confident that they would have excellent tools to use in our classes.
