Jenny Aitken Set

Jenny Aitken RSMA is an award-winning UK-based painter whose celebrated marine and landscape artworks capture the changing light, movement, and colour of coastal scenes. Born in Lincoln in 1975, she graduated in Art & Art History from Aberystwyth University in 1997.

She has painted professionally for over 25 years, emerging as a self-taught artist with a background in photography during her studies.  She often paints from life outdoors, then refines her work back in the studio. Her tonal contrasts—greys versus chromatic hues, rich darks and subtle light—reflect inspiration drawn from masters like Sorolla, Sargent, and Hopper.

In 2023, Jenny was elected a full member of the Royal Society of Marine Artists (RSMA) and awarded the Baltic Exchange Prize.

Jenny also authored the book Painting into the Light, published by Search Press in 2024, and contributes regularly to The Artist Magazine. Her work is represented by galleries including The Whitethorn Gallery (Ireland) and Haynes Fine Art (London).
